The art competition for the 2016 calendar of the European PROGRES, whose theme is “Europe in my neighbourhood”, starts today for high-school students from 34 municipalities in the South East and South West Serbia. The competition aims to encourage secondary school pupils to think about potential projects which could improve everyday life of their local communities, especially the youth.
By organising this competition, European PROGRES, with the support of the European Union and the Government of Switzerland, continues the tradition started in previous years in South West and South Serbia by European development programmes EU PROGRES, PRO and MIR. The students, teachers and parents have praised and supported this initiative in the past.
Twelve best art works selected by a panel of experts will be printed on the 2016 European PROGRES Calendar. Young authors of the selected works will receive laptops, tablet computers and mobile phones as awards. The school declared to be the best, based on the total number and quality of all submitted works, as well as on the basis of its commitment to organization of its internal school-level competition, will win a laptop and a projector. The competition will close on 15 November 2015, while the announcement of winners, the award presentation ceremony and the promotion of the calendar are to be organized in second half of December.
The contestants of the competition “Europe in my neighbourhood” should present their ideas of local projects that could bring positive change to their local communities, while showing an understanding of the chosen subject. All artworks must be accompanied by a caption explaining the project presented and the benefit it would bring to the community and its youth.
