The Municipality is located in the southwestern part of Serbia in the Raška District and it can be reached via both the Adriatic and the Ibar highway.
Being situated 1000m above sea level, with a mountainous climate and numerous rivers, Tutin has significant potential for energy generation from renewable sources - wind farms and mini-hydro power plants, as well as for the advancement of agriculture, livestock breeding and the timber industry.
Water resources include the rivers Ibar, Vidrenjak, Godulja, Crna rijeka, Đerekarska reka, Sebečevska reka and Lake Gazivode near Ribarići, whose portion in the length of 7 km is on the territory of Tutin.
Agricultural land is the most abundant natural resource and covers 53% (39.273 ha) of the total territory of the Municipality. Forests, as the second most important resource have created a long tradition for the Municipality in the production of upholstered furniture and other wood-based products.
Key cultural events include the “Singing Spring” International Festival, Džipijada (the Jeep Rally), traditional country fairs on the Pešter Plateau and rafting on the Ibar River.
The main advantage of the Municipality is in its skilled labor force – the population of Tutin is ten years younger than the national average.
With a view to supporting agricultural producers, the Regional Agricultural Development Centre has been established in Sjenica, in cooperation with Tutin and Novi Pazar, through EU PROGRES, which is equipped with a modern laboratory for chemical and microbiological testing of agricultural products.
