Art Competition for the 2015 European PROGRES Calendar Begins

10 October 2014, Belgrade

The art competition for the 2015 calendar of the European PROGRES, whose theme is “Discover Europe”, starts today for high-school students from 34 municipalities in the South East and South West Serbia.  The competition aims to encourage secondary school pupils to pursue their artistic talent and to inspire them to research and discover little known, yet interesting, facts about Europe, and be creative in visually presenting their findings to the audiences.

With this competition European PROGRES continues the tradition started in previous years in South West and South Serbia by European development programmes EU PROGRES, PRO and MIR. The students, teachers and parents have praised and supported this initiative in the past.

Twelve best art works selected by a panel of experts will be printed on the 2015 European PROGRES Calendar. Young authors of the selected works will receive laptops, tablet computers and cameras as awards. The school declared to be the best, based on the total number and quality of all submitted works, as well as on the basis of its commitment to organization of its internal school-level competition, will win a laptop and a projector. The competition will close on 10 November 2014, while the announcement of winners, the award presentation ceremony and the promotion of the calendar are to be organized in second half of December in Blace.

The contestants of the competition “Discover Europe” should present their own vision of the fact about Europe they believe is interesting to share, in a positive tone, showing the understanding of the chosen subject. All artworks must be accompanied by a caption explaining the subject presented, and sharing the knowledge about Europe.
