The Municipality of Ivanjica is a predominantly highland area located in the Moravica District.
Via Arilje and Požega it is connected with the Belgrade - South Adriatic main road and the Belgrade-Bar railway.
The development potential of the Municipality is primarily related to the boosting of the wood processing industry and agriculture, particularly wild berries, as well as to the development of tourism.
Forests and forest land account for 49.54% of the territory of the Municipality (54,000 ha) which, together with a skilled workforce and production capacity, provides a base in terms of raw material for the development of the wood and timber industry.
The Municipality is also especially suitable for the production of healthy and ecologically safe food, and it is well-known for its production of raspberries and potatoes.
High-quality accommodation facilities of Ivanjica offer excellent conditions for the development of mountain, rural, sports and health tourism. The Nature Park Golija is situated on the territory of the Municipality, while the Biosphere Reserve Golija-Studenica is the first and only reserve in Serbia included in the UNESCO’s MAB Programme (Man and the Biosphere).
Every summer, Ivanjica organizes a cultural event called Nušićijada, which has been ranked by the European Commission Programme Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe (EFFE) among the best European festivals.
Through the PRO Programme, a general design with a pre-feasibility study was developed for a tourist road on Mt. Golija, as well as a plan for the development of tourism on the mountain. With the support of the EU PROGRES Programme, the Municipality developed detailed regulation plans for the villages of Kušići and Devići, thus creating conditions for the development of transport, energy and utility infrastructure, including for the development of tourism and agriculture. Moreover, a one-stop shop for building permits has been established, while through European PROGRES detailed regulation plans are being developed for the tourist and recreational zone "Jakovića Polje" and the business and production zone "Senjak".
